The Tennessee Republican Party has always been proud of America. To further honor the occasion of Mrs. Obama’s visit, the Tennessee Republican Party has requested the playing of patriotic music by radio stations across the state

From a Statement on the Tennessee Republican Party’s Website, while admonishing Michelle Obama.

Not that I feel like the Tennessee Republican Party will ever understand this, but it turns out that patriotism is not pride, it is love.  They are not one and the same.   One does not automatically insure the other.  I have not been proud of this country in several years, but my saying so and trying to change what I see wrong doesn’t prove that I don’t love America, it proves that I do.  Being silent doesn’t make me a patriot, it makes me a sheep.  Dissent in this country isn’t just a right, its a responsibility for those who disagree…and celebrating that freedom is a far greater show of patriotism than, oh…I don’t know…playing “God Bless the USA,” for instance.
